I grew up with Playmobil toys (which I absolutely adored) and so now I bought my son his first Playmobil set: the Ancient Egyptian-themed Sphinx set! It's amazing; the quality, the detail, and the educational value are all well worth the price. I am now planning on collecting the rest of the Ancient Egyptian-themed pieces for him.

This is a great addition to the Playmobil offerings. It, and the other Egyptian items, inspired my five year old great grand son to want to learn about this ancient culture. My boys were not overly impressed with the Sphinx but I think it had more to do with getting it at the same time as the pyramid. That pyramid set is hard to beat!
The Sphinx has a cool hidden entry that can only be opened with the key. They loved that part and the hidden spot is pure Playmobil artistry in its mechanics. However, the key is necessary to open it properly and my boys got frustrated when they couldn't find the key right away. I sense problems with this down the line ... Read More

I just love this line of Playmobil's historical adventure sets. Every year Playmobil has a different historical theme and this year it's the Egyptians.
The entire Egyptian line includes this Sphinx, a pyramid, a ship, a temple and several smaller sets of camels, houses and Egyptian figures.
