This product seemed to work fine with Vista Home Premium and Windows Media Center and setup was easy enough with the LAN connection, however I made the assumption that I could use it for the NetFlix 'Instant' dvd/tv/etc. since I can do this with Media Center on the pc itself. The Netflix addon for Media Center is apparently not compatible with this device - and for a few more $$ I can get a PlayStation3 or XBox360 that will do everthing this will do and NetFlix and play games as well, so it's really ... I bought this product primarily to stream music from my desktop to my TV and stereo. Setup was fairly easy and the interface is okay. However, DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT if you want it to stream music. If listening to more than one song, it cuts off the first few seconds of every song it plays after the first track. This makes it VERY DIFFICULT to enjoy your music. I read that other people had the same problem, but I was hoping this was a design defect that has been cured. It has NOT. I have a model ... Read More

I backup my DVDs to a D-Link DNS321 2-Bay network attached storage (NAS) where I have two 1TB drives. This device (DSM-750) streams the media clearly off the NAS as if I was watching the original DVDs. This is the best device by far for playback after recording and then streaming DVD backup files from a shared NAS device.
I use DVDFAB 6 to backup my DVDs to my laptop and then wirelessly transfer them to the NAS. This software allows users to create 3-4 GB no loss VOB files. Why compress when ... Read More

I connected to a dir-655. signal was terrible, the unit was only 1 floor down, 1 room away. Laptop always gets full signal in same spot. I had to get a powerline adaptor to get a signal (defeats the wireless idea) I get pictures, but can get a single video to work, using the media extender nor media player mode. What a waste of money.

The product itself is very beatiful and fits very well to other components. I had the idea to buy the DSM-750 after my DVD player was broken. I was intended to see the movies I already had in my computer (divx), using my '.srt' subtitles and profiting from wireless 802.11n speed. I chose DSM-750, not the DSM-520, due to the Windows Media Center Extender. Since I could see DVD movies on my Desktop Windows Media Center, I thought could replace my old DVD player with DSM-750 only by inserting my DVD in my ... Read More
