This is the second generation nintendo very limited production run. Released after the Super NES came out. The system was redesigned with a double sided pin connector to fix the blinking problem the original NES sufferd from. Great system a must have for any collector.

The Nintendo NES-101's top loading design makes loading game paks much easier. Unlike the original toaster NES console, the top loader usually loads the first time without the famous blinking screen. The only drawback is the rf out video only, unless you can get your hands on the ultra rare NES-101 with AV output. It does indeed exist, but no one knows for sure how many are out there. If your intent is to play an American NES game, this is the system you should be using. Compared to the original Nintendo Entertainment System, the "Top Loader" is strictly better. It won't bend your games like the original, it won't flash on and off when it gets old, and it won't need replaced (as long as you don't throw it or something). Not sure if this system was in "collectible" condition. I would label it more as very good-used condition. However it works pretty well and came in a great bundle of games. Only with 1 controller and no box though.

Indeed, this thing is NOT the NES that most of us grew up playing, although it's hardly a bad system-- quite the contrary, really. Playing classic video games on their original system is like playing an old vinyl record. Sure you could listen to it on an CD or MP3 player...but it just doesn't have that same feeling of nostalgia.
