Editorial Review:

Amazon.com:
We may not know who wrote the book of love, but the author of the rock & roll dictionary was Charles Edward "Chuck" Berry. You've got a signature guitar riff that other giants (think Rolling Stones) have based entire careers on. Songs such as "School Day" told teen tales as though they were novels. "Too Much Monkey Business" in where Bob Dylan discovered poetry and rap music found a contemporary starting point. "Johnny B. Goode," "Sweet Little Sixteen," "Roll Over Beethoven," "Back in the USA"--the titles alone evoke unparalleled rock atmosphere. If this three-CD set contains less unreleased ephemera than the usual box, it's because there are so many essentials to squeeze in. This one's got 'em all, A to Z. --Ben Edmonds

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - The Chess Box : Chuck Berry
This 3 CD set is great. There is songs that Chuck has done that I had forgotten. they take you back to that time period in America.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Mr.Chuck Berry
Magnificent-Music and History. One of the fore-fathers of Rock and Roll Music. And its just pleasurable to listen to also.Coming from the era of Vinyl-Records to CD's(cant get into MP3's) this was great to hear without scratches of old records.Mr.Berry has poetry in his words and music.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Long live rock and roll.
This three CD box set came out over 20 years ago, but it is arguably still the definitive Chuck Berry collection. Chuck was one of the founding fathers of rock and roll, and recorded many classic songs, all of which are here. Chuck had a long association with Chess Records, and just about all the significant songs he recorded for the label are featured here, although the omission of "I Want to Be Your Driver" is puzzling. But they didn't have room to include every good song he recorded, so it's ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - It's all here!
The Berry upbound Reissue train really got going around 1990. Here's a smooth ride through St. Louie...and across the Rockin' Globe.
Thankfully, the reissue Producer(s) lost some affection for funky but tired things like "I Want To Be Your Driver" and used some later numbers I've been pining for on sets like this: "It Wasn't Me" (no excuse for this missing the Top 100); "Viva Viva Rock And Roll" (actually on the shelf for five years!); and my love, "Ramona, Say Yes". In the wotld of R & R Dreams, ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - This Is A Gas
This is the only Chuck Berry collection I own, it was available through a music club many years ago I belonged to for a nice price. All the stuff featured here is classic, but my fav is probably disc one (the early stuff).

It comes with a wonderful big booklet of info on Chuck along with a conversation (interview), pics, and song info (chart positions) included.

For such an important artist in the history of Rock And Roll, this is an important set to have, a very nice collection ... Read More
