Product Description:
The truth about Elvis's death from the doctor who spent eleven years as "the King's" personal physician, father-figure, and confidant - "Dr. Nick."
Dr. Nichopoulos spent a decade with Elvis on the road and at Graceland, trying to maintain the precarious health of one of the world's greatest entertainers. But on August 16, 1977, he found himself in the ambulance with Elvis on that fateful last trip to the ER. He signed the death certificate.
From that day forward, Dr. Nick became the focus of a media witch hunt that threatened his life and all but destroyed his professional reputation. Now, for the first time, Dr. Nick reveals the true story behind Elvis's drug use and final days-not the version formed by years of tabloid journalism and gross speculation. Put aside what you've learned about Elvis's final days and get ready to understand for the first time the inner workings of "the king of rock n' roll."

It was with hesitancy that I bought this book. Although I've read dozens of Elvis books, the relationship between Elvis and Dr. Nick was one in which I chose to ignor in an effort to focus on the "positive" aspects of Elvis' life. However, after reading this book, I implore all Elvis fans to buy and read this book to gain Dr. Nick's perspective on the man. Dr. Nick provides rare insight on Elvis not seen in other books. Dr. Nick also provides a new perspective of the events leading up to that ... Read More

Review: This book was different from what I originally expected. I was thinking that it would be a lot of anecdotes about the life and death of Elvis that only those closest to him knew about. There was a great deal about the still mysterious death of Elvis, but not as many behind-the-scene anecdotes about his life as I had hoped. Over half of this book is about medical practice, challenges when dealing with a celebrity patient and the author's attempt to clear his name in the wake of horrifically ... Read More

A compilation of Elvis Presley's last decade told by his good friend and the same time physician for ten years, Dr. Nick Nichopoulos. I didn't witness Elvis Presley's stardom since I was born late, but like everyone else, I was not spared from the legend's fame.
In this book, Dr. Nick tells the story of a decade of his life spent with the King. Dr. Nick revealed the side of Elvis that wasn't at all known to his audience. Dr. Nick was discreet enough in his recall by taking his readers ... Read More

This book highlights the story behind the death of Elvis Presley, some twenty plus years ago. Though many books came before it, none offer the viewpoint from the Doctor himself who was faced with the task of keeping one of his best friends, also the biggest megastar at that time, healthy enough to meet the demands of his adoring public. One might ask why it has taken so long to write such a book, and the answer is simple. It has taken over twenty years for Dr. George Nichopoulos to fight the legal ... Read More
