Editorial Review:
Product Description: Drawing on 20 years of teaching allied health and pre-professional students, authors Laura Frost and Todd Deal have created this innovative new text for the one-term GOB chemistry course. General, organic, and biological chemistry topics are integrated throughout each chapter to create a seamless framework that immediately relates chemistry to students’ future allied health careers and their everyday lives. General, Organic, and Biological Chemistry: An Integrated Approach introduces the problem-solving skills students will need to assess situations critically within their future allied health careers. Unique guided inquiry activities have been incorporated after each chapter to guide students through an exploration of the given information to develop chemical concepts, and then apply the developed concept to further examples.
Chemistry: It’s All About “Stuff”; Atoms, Radioactivity, and Ions; Compounds: Putting Particles Together; Introduction to Organic Compounds; Carbohydrates: Life’s Sweet Molecules; Intermolecular Forces: State Changes, Solubility, and Cell Membranes; Solution Chemistry: How Sweet is Your Tea?; Acids, Bases, and the Building Blocks of Life; Proteins — Amides at Work; Enzymes — Nature’s Chemists; Nucleic Acids — Big Molecules with a Big Role; Food As Fuel — A Metabolic Overview.
A comprehensive reference for allied health professionals.

Has almost a hundred problems per chapter to work on, however you have to keep flipping to back of book to find solutions to problems to see if you are grasping the concept. Even numbered problems do not have solutions listed which makes it even more frustrating especially when there is a unique concept only listed on even problems. The book should use some more of the problems as examples throughout the reading or have a study section ... Read More

Needed this book for a General Chemistry class. It does the job, was too expensive in my opinion, but over all a good book. Check with your professor to see if you can use the 2nd edition and not the 3rd, it will save you a lot of money. There is little difference between them !!
